It's a girl!

Bella Marie Johnson doesn't seem to understand all the attention. Her parents, Cameron Johnson and Ashley Trumble proudly show the first baby born in 2010 at Regina Medical Center, Hastings.

She came a little early and experienced a few difficulties during her birth.

But Bella Marie Johnson, the first baby born in 2010 at Regina Medical Center, Hastings, is doing very well.

She was born at 8:29 p.m. New Year's Day - Jan. 1 - to Ashley Trumble and Cameron Johnson of Hastings. At birth, Bella weighed 6 pounds, 10.5 ounces and was 20 inches long.

"My doctor (Dr. Melody McKenzie) called her my miracle baby because she had a 42-week placenta which has calcified and the umbilical cord was on the side," Trumble said. But Bella Marie is just fine.

Trumble had made one prior trip to the hospital - about a week earlier - experiencing cramps. After being checked, she was sent home.

Early on New Year's Day, Trumble woke about 6 a.m. and was experiencing cramps. Two hours later, the couple were on their way to the hospital.

Trumble selected the name.

"I heard the name and liked it," she said.

Grandparents are Ann and John Trumble of Hastings, and Ramona and Myron Johnson of Hastings. Great-grandparents are Jackie and Pete Willwerscheid of West St. Paul and Sophie Johnson of Karlstad.

Regina Medical Center presented a gift basket and several gift cards to the couple.
