United Way campaign kicks off Friday at football opener
The United Way of Hastings launches its 2009-10 annual giving campaign at the annual campaign kick-off event. The kick-off event is part of the pre-game activities at the Hastings High School football home opening game Friday, Sept. 11. Activities begin at 6:30 p.m.
This year marks the 45th anniversary of the United Way of Hastings. The kick-off event includes United Way of Hastings board members, volunteers, the "little Raiders football teams," Hastings football connections and many community members. A variety of events are part of the pre-game show and kick-off event.
"I look forward to this event every year; this is a great community building event that displays one of many partnerships in our community" said board president Pat Yates. "United Way of Hastings works to develop partnerships where we can help change peoples lives.
"Our work is centered on laying the foundation for a good life," he said. "The United Way of Hastings works to build partnerships to improve the lives of people in our community. It takes everyone in the community working together to reach our goals."
The 2009 Board of Directors include Michael Mohrhauser, Radke & Mohrhauser; Michael Biskupski, Weis Builders, Bob Sellars, (retired from) Xcel Energy; Dr. Christopher Johnston, River Pines Dental; Bob Lawrence, Hastings Community Education; Karen Rushton, Wells Fargo; Jean Lodermeier, Ingersoll Rand Climate Control Technologies; Barb Hollenbeck, Second Childhood Toy Store; Jeff Schommer, Lifeworks; Steve VanVossen, Pentair Corp; and Board President Pat Yates, Securian Life Insurance Co.
"Working to change people's lives by laying the foundation for a better life", the United Way of Hastings was founded in 1964 by a group of community leaders who wanted to improve the lives of people in the community.
