Alpine Ski: Raiders wrap up busy week

What the Raiders missed two weeks ago because of the cold weather, they certainly made up for last week.

The Hastings High School boys and girls alpine ski teams skied two meets in one day against Park of Cottage Grove and Woodbury at Afton Alps last Tuesday.

Last Thursday, the teams took on Roseville at Welch Village.

And the results were a lot of wins for the Raiders.

Both teams went 2-1 in the three meets, and had a number of top-10 finishes throughout.

On Tuesday, the girls team lost a close meet to Woodbury, falling 32-23.

But Hastings rebounded big with 46-9 win against Park.

Kelly Pechous finished with a combined time of 60.26 seconds, which was good enough to give her first place in both meets.

Lane Manke was right behind Pechous, finishing with a time of 60.65 seconds, giving her a second-place finish in both meets.

Katie Gapp was the next top finisher for Hastings, coming in with a time of 69.73 seconds. That time gave her an eighth-place finish against Woodbury, and a fourth-place finish against Park.

Alyssa Gerlach finished with a time of 70.32 seconds, giving her a 10th-place finish against Woodbury and a fifth-place finish against Park.

On the boys side, Hastings lost to Woodbury 47-8, but defeated Park 35-20.

Matt Daggett finished with a time of 62.67 seconds for Hastings' best finish. That time put him sixth against Woodbury and third against Park.

Aaron Schiller finished with a time of 65.86 seconds, giving him a ninth-place finish against Woodbury and a fourth-place finish against Park.

Foster Gale finished 10th against Woodbury with a time of 66.07 seconds and fifth against Park.
