Hastings business integral on upcoming 'Extreme Makeover'

Ty Pennington may be the host of the TV show "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition," but when it airs Jan. 3, one of the stars of the show will be Hastings' own Jill Ragan Scully of Impressive Windows and Interiors.

On every house the show does, Pennington has one surprise for the homeowner - "Ty's secret room," it's called. It's usually something above and beyond for a child or adult who lives in the home.

Ragan Scully was chosen to be the person in charge of the design, fabrication and installation of much of what you'll see in Ty's special room on the episode. She can't go into much detail on what that will be because she signed a secrecy agreement, but she can say she did work on bedding, pillows and upholstery.

"We were a vital part of the construction and design team, making sure everything we created was able to be executed," she said.

The show will air at 7 p.m., Jan. 3 on ABC.

Ragan Scully's business was chosen for the job out of many applicants. The feeling around the house while work was going on was inspiring for her.

"The positive energy around there was absolutely incredible," she said.

The speed at which they work on the show also impressed her. The entire house is done in a week, when it'd normally take months for a project the size of an "Extreme Makeover" house.

"It was pretty interesting to see everything come together so well," she said.

The house is located in West St. Paul and it's home to a woman who is a daycare provider. She took in kids from the neighborhood whose parent or parents couldn't afford daycare and never raised the prices on those who could. The parents of the kids she looks after nominated her for the show.

Several Hastings residents also volunteered on the show.
