Make Music Day, an event organized by the Parks and Recreation Department, was held June 21. The worldwide celebration of music debuted in the city with performances from 11 different musical groups or soloists in six different parks. There were about 660 people in attendance throughout the day.
All kinds of music was performed including blues, country, jazz, classic rock, polka and more. Musical performances began at 7 a.m. with Pat Schmid's Riverboat Joy Maker playing music for the morning rush hour traffic and the last act Smooth Sensation in Levee Park ended at 9 p.m.
