Recap: Tilden hosts STEM night with Science Museum

Tilden recently hosted a Family Engineering Night May 23 inside the Tilden gymnasium. The Science Museum of Minnesota presented their "Be creative-Be an Engineer" family program at the event. The program consisted of a 15-minute large group introduction followed by a half hour of table top activities.

Children had the opportunity to Build-A-Bridge where they built different structures with foam blocks and "tested" them to see if the weight of the washers would hold them. They were also able to make creations with pipe cleaners to see if the structure would rise to the top of a wind tube. They also built and explored wooden planks, built belts and more.

The program was made possible by a Hastings Public Schools Foundation Grant "Little Raiders Learn STEM" written by Michelle Bump, a Tilden preschool teacher.
