Hastings Rotary Club presents 'Bruce in the USA'

As part of the Doffing Concert Series, the Hastings Area Rotary Club will host “Bruce in the USA” – The World’s #1 Tribute to Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band – on Aug. 13 at the Rotary Pavilion in downtown Hastings.

Summer 2016 marks the inaugural year for programming at the Rotary Pavilion, which was donated to the city by the Hastings Rotary Club. From a Rotary Club perspective, member Jeff Carlson, said the concert is a kick-off event to launch the Rotary’s vision for what the pavilion would be.

“The intent was to provide some community events to get the community together and even more specifically, to get the downtown busier,” Carlson said.

Tony Ciro, another Rotary Club member, said he thinks the event will be one of the bigger events outside of Rivertown Days.

“We’d like to see this build for years to come,” he said.

Ciro said the event will be fun and exciting for the community. The event is designed to be a family friendly event that the club is hoping will generate lots of community interest.

With community interest would come more community success. Carlson said there are already great things in the community, but it can get better too.

“If we can bring and develop some more activity to the downtown to make all of those businesses more successful, it is going to be a great thing for the community as a whole,” Carlson said.

For the upcoming concert, gates will open at 5 p.m. with local bands like the Coxmen performing before “Bruce in the USA” takes the stage at 8 p.m. A variety of food vendors will be available and the Rotary Club will be selling beer and wine. The event will take place rain or shine.

A VIP event will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for people who purchase the preferred seating tickets. VIP ticket holders will be treated to a pre-concert reception at the Hastings Arts Center with hors d’oeuvres and a performance by the Arioso Jazz trio. The VIP tickets will also have preferred seating at the Rotary Pavilion for the concert.

Tickets are available for purchase at Haley Comfort Systems and Provincial Bank or online at www.hastingsmnrotary.eventbrite.com. General admission tickets are $20 in advance, $25 the day of the concert and preferred-seating tickets with pre-concert social events are $75. Sponsorship opportunities are still available as well.
