Six concerts highlight 2014-2015 season

Entertainment in a variety of music forms will be the highlight during the Hastings Concert Association 2014-2015 season. Six concerts are scheduled for the season, with all concerts at the Hastings Middle School auditorium.

The concerts are as follows:

Barley Jacks, 7 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 17. The Barley Jacks sing original vocals and play instrumentals in a spirit of excitement and fun. They are masters of the fiddle, guitar, bass and drum. They play blues, bluegrass, classical, Celtic, rhythm and blues and bebop.

Tony DeSare: My Generation, 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27. New York’s favorite crooner returns with a contemporary pops show. Singer, pianist and songwriter, DeSare has won critical and popular acclaim for his concert performances throughout the world. His new show, My Generation, features a variety of tunes from Elton John, Billy Joel and other popular artists of the 1970s.

Hank Thunander, 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 19. He began his musical career at 9 in Bessemer, Mich. He has been awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his leadership and performances in Special Services Entertainment.

Rebecca and Kuba, 4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 28. After a highly successful tour in 2012, Kuba returns with another unique show, this time showcasing his wife Rebecca, a Broadway and country singer and himself on the vibraphone and other percussion instruments.

Steve Clark and the Working Stiffs, 3 p.m., Sunday, March 22. The Working Stiffs will showcase their jump blues and jazz. They are complemented by Clark’s golden saxophone.

Carpenters: Close to You, 3 p.m., Saturday, May 2. Singer Lisa Rock and her six-piece band bring the music of the Carpenters back to the stage. She draws the audience in with her stories about Karen and Richard Carpenter, their lives, and how some of the songs originated.

Memberships for this season are available for $60, adults; and $150 for a family. After June 30, the memberships are $70 for adults and $160 for a family. Checks should be made payable to the Hastings Concert Association and mailed to 1521 Highland Drive, Hastings MN 55033.
