Preparations begin for summer musical, ‘Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat’

Preparation for the summer musical of Black Dirt Theater Co. begins this week.

Auditions for the musical, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat,” have been scheduled, according to director and marketing director Libby Wasylik.

“We will do everything in our power to make it a really fun, stress free hour and you will leave feeling great,” she said.

Each audition will take about an hour, she said. Participants should arrive at the middle school five minutes before their audition slot. At that time, they will complete an audition sheet, have their photo taken, learn the dance, then go in and audition for the creative team.

Auditions for 12 and younger will be held from 9:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at the middle school. Auditions for adults will be held from 6:15 p.m. to 8:45 p.m. May 16, and from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. May 17, also at the middle school.

Participants should learn the dance – it will be posted at a YouTube video within the week on the Black Dirt Theater website. The audition song will also be posted.

Participants should wear comfortable clothing that they can dance in. They should relax as much as they can be, be themselves and enjoy getting to be creative, said Wasylik.

The call-back list will be announced May 18.

“Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” will be presented later this summer.
