Online registration opens for Gobble Gait

Gobble Gait, which began as a small race in 1998 to help those in need in the community, has continually grown each year. More than 2,000 competed in both events last year.

Registration is now open for this year’s event. It can be done online at

Over the years, Gobble Gait has raised more than half million dollars and thousands of pounds of food for Hastings Family Service, and is set to go again this year on Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 28.

Same day registration begins at 7 a.m., with the 8K starting at 8:30 a.m. and the 2K follows afterwards.

The pre-race packet pickup and pasta supper will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 27, at The Onion Grille. The Gobble Gait breakfast will be held from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, at the American Legion clubrooms. Hastings Family Service will hold an open house and tours from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. Thanksgiving morning.

The 8K route is the same as it was in 2012. The race starts on Second Street,  between Sibley and Ramsey streets, and goes into east Hastings under the railroad bridge. It then heads south at the railroad depot and takes 10th Street out to Highway 291/18th Street (past Bullfrog Pond). Runners go past C.P. Adams Park and cross the Vermillion River on the 18th Street bridge. They then turn right on Tyler Street and head back to downtown Hastings.

Online registration can be completed until midnight Nov. 26. Additional information is available at www.gobblegait. com or by calling 651-437-1070.
