The Hastings Music Festival announced this week that national recording artists Eric Hutchinson and Bucky Covington will be headlining this year’s Hastings Music Festival, set for Sept. 7. In addition to the headlining acts, the music festival will have last year’s fan favorites “Headliner” (also known as “Heart Breaker”) and Brooke Ellis with “Kingsview.”

Hutchinson, a Washington D.C. raised singer, pianist, and guitarist, has traveled the world playing his music.. His hit songs “OK, It’s Alright With Me” and “Watching You Watch Him” (which debuted on the season premiere of ABC-TV’s “Grey’s Anatomy”) have been at the top of the Billboard charts and are currently being played on radio stations across the world. Hutchinson loves playing shows, he said.

“You’re hosting a party, inviting people in, and making sure they’re taken care of the whole time,” he said.

Covington took the American Idol path to success. After gaining thousands of fans, and placing eighth in the fifth season of the show on Fox, Covington released his first album. He became the best-selling debut artist of the class of 2007, with the best first-week sales and highest Top 200 debut for any male country artist in 15 years. He appeared on Good Morning America, Jimmy Kimmel Live, and many other talk shows. He became part of the Country Sings Disney project and appeared in “Hannah Montana: The Movie.”

“The theme for this year’s festival is ‘Rock it Forward,’ playing off the charitable idea of ‘Pay it Forward,’” said Gordy Pearson, one of the organizers of the Hastings Music Festival. With the addition of popular national recording artists to the line-up of the Hastings Music Festival, raising money for charity has never been so fun and easy, he added.

The proceeds of Hastings Music Festival benefit the programs and services of Hastings Family Service. Since its inception five years ago, the Hastings Music Festival has raised nearly $40,000 to help neighbors in need.

“You can enjoy a great day of music and make a difference in the community all at the same time,” said Kevin Sieben, one of the event organizers. “This year will be bigger and better than ever.”
