Kirk Doffing shows improvement

It has been almost a year since former Hastings resident Kirk Doffing was assaulted by three men in West Hollywood. The crime remains unsolved and Doffing continues to slowly improve from his injuries.

In a posting on her Facebook page, his sister Jackie Doffing Geisinger notes: “He has Traumatic Brain Injury, has had two brain surgeries and has been in four institutions.”

The WeHo (West Hollywood) Public Safety Commission, City of West Hollywood, Sheriff’s Department and Kirk Doffing’s families and friends are attending a Public Safety Park Party Memorial Day weekend in West Hollywood.

As part of the ongoing effort to solve the crime and ensure the safety of the area, Geisinger has also signed the “DEMAND Safety in West Hollywood NOW with City Surveillance Cameras!” petition.

She is asking others to do the same at ThePetitionSite.com/417764851.

A new photo of Doffing is on his GoFundMe website. It was taken at his birthday earlier this spring. The posting indicates that he is talking and making improvement.

The funds that have already been raised have gone to help pay for family members to be with Doffing at the rehab facility, Geisinger said. Somebody is there every week.

Doffing is the son of Paul and Rita Doffing of Hastings, founder of the original Duff’s Meats; and brother to Jackie (Richard) Geisinger and Tim (Lori) Doffing of Hastings. He has one niece, Destinie Geisinger, and two nephews, Montana Geisinger and Matthew Doffing.

A GoFundMe fund has been established for Doffing to help with the medical bills and other support needed. It can be accessed at www.gofundme/com/w7wpx8z.
