Neuman receives Outstanding High School Leadership scholarship

Andrew Neuman of Hastings received the Outstanding High School Leadership scholarship from the University of North Dakota for the 2014-2015 academic year. Neuman is the son of Jeff and Rachelle Neuman. He graduated from Hastings High School and plans to attend the University of North Dakota in the fall.

Hinderscheid attends Language Village Immersion Program

Kalvin Hinderscheid has participated in the Concordia Language Villages program by attending a four-week session at Waldsee, the German Language Village, located near Bemidji. Hinderscheid is the son of Kris and John Hinderscheid of Hastings and will be a senior at Hastings High School this fall. Kalvin also received a scholarship from American Association of Teachers of German Scholarship sponsored by the Max Kade Foundation and CLV Passport Fund scholarship to attend the program. By attending Waldsee, the German Language Village, Hinderscheid experienced a simulated visit to another country. Hinderscheid was issued a passport, exchanged currency and adopted a new name. By interacting with staff from all over the world, Hinderscheid also learned about the many opportunities available to those who speak more than one language. Hinderscheid was immersed in the language and culture of another country through large and small learning groups, authentic foods, holiday celebrations, re-enactments of historic events, songs, dances, crafts, games and everyday conversations.

Huebsch graduates from UW-Eau Claire

Derek Huebsch of Hastings recently graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, Arts and Sciences with a degree in biology.

U of North Dakota announces dean’s list

Mackenzie Lucas of Hastings has been named to the dean’s list for the spring 2014 semester at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.
