Steven Roach is Rotary Student of the month

Laura Zabel nominated HHS senior Steven Roach as the Hastings Rotary Student of the Month for December.  Steven was recognized at the Dec. 12 meeting of the Hastings Rotary Club at the Green Mill.

This is what Zabel had to say about Roach: “I would like to nominate Steven Roach for Rotary student of the month. I have known Steven for four years in many different settings, including as a student in my Honors Pre Calculus class, in activities like show choir and student council and most recently as an advisor for NHS. I have always been impressed with Steven’s work ethic and personality, but he has really grown as a leader this year. As an NHS officer, Steven led the Halloween food drive, which raised over 3,000 pounds of food and $111 for Hastings Family Service!  He made several modifications that greatly enhanced the process and overall success of the project. He did this with great leadership, enthusiasm, and commitment to service.  Steven truly has a servant heart. He made the experience fun for all involved and made a huge impact on our community at the same time. He is definitely worthy of this award!”

Roach is currently applying to many colleges, and his first interest is pre-medical. He recently became interested in social sciences and economics and is looking forward to college to figure out a career and explore interests. Some of the activities Steven was involved in are tennis, where he was a captain for two years; Riverside Company Show Choir, student council and National Honor Society Officer.
