Grace Daggett has been nominated as Rotary Student of the month

The Hastings Rotary Club’s student of the month is Grace Daggett.

On a nomination form, HHS teacher Miki Atkins wrote: I would like to nominate Grace Daggett as Rotary Student of the month. I have known Grace for 4 years and in that time have been energized and blessed by her personality and attitude. Grace has been involved in many activities both in school and out. She has participated in basketball for 4 years. She is one of the students chosen to be a Peer Helper for the 2013-14 school year. She attended training for this and is eager to be able to assist others. She has been active in Young Life and has been a Junior Leader in the program for the past 2 years.

I have seen her talk to kids and ask them to come to Young Life with her, as she knows the benefit of friendships and the connections that can last a lifetime. She is also active in youth group at Shepherd of the Valley Church. She is currently planning on being part of a mission trip in the summer of 2014 to Dominican Republic.

Grace is a young lady who always puts others before herself. She gets a smile on her face when she can help someone else.  During the past two school years, I have seen Grace take foreign exchange students ‘under her wing’ and help them with getting around the building, helping them with locks and just being a true friend! The connections she is making will be life long, and I know she is the kind of person that is thinking ‘I’m just helping them out with little things’- yet the kindness she is showing means so much!

After high school, Grace would like to be an elementary teacher or a physical education teacher. She has a heart of gold and although may seem a bit quiet when you first meet her- she will accomplish any task given to her, and have a smile on her face the entire time.

If there is one thing I can end with, it is that Grace always wants what is best for others. She is always thinking of what she can do to help someone else.
