Letter: Fire department ought to light its flag
To the editor,
I am writing this in concern to why the flag at our fire station is not lit up during the night. I drive by the fire station Monday through Friday at 4:30 a.m. and look up at our flag to remember those who have or are serving our country, and it is dark.
Proper flag etiquette states that the flag should be illuminated at all times, either by sunlight or by an appropriate light source.
It would seem that at least a solar light could be installed on the flag pole to light up the flag at night. I am sure the cost to install a solar light would not be greater than the cost of those who have served our country.
We need to honor our military and our country and display our American Flag properly and proudly.
