City Council: New police officer, preservation awards and project updates

The Hastings City Council will hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, May 20, at City Hall. Here’s a look at what’s on the agenda.

Public meeting is June 5 with HPAAC and Artspace

The Hastings Prescott Area Arts Council (HPAAC), together with Artspace, is inviting interested people to a community meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, at Hastings City Hall, 101 Fourth St. E.

Planning is under way for Rivertown Days July 18 to 21

The 2013 Rivertown Days button design is done, thanks to Dave Youngren and Natasha Hill. The planning has begun for the events and activities.

Southbound Highway 61 coming into Hastings will see delays beginning May 20

Beginning May 20, Highway 61 near Hastings will be reduced to a single lane in each direction through the intersection of Highway 10/Point Douglas Drive and Highway 61.

Personally, I do not approve of same-sex marriage. However, now that gay marriage is law in Minnesota, indicating that a majority of Minnesotans believe the gay lifestyle deserves all the legitimacy, respect and approval of the heterosexual lifestyle, what remains to be done?
