The Orange Dragon Art Gallery, sponsored by the Hastings Prescott Area Art Council (HPAAC), has opened its new youth gallery featuring art from area children. The youth gallery, “Sky’s the Limit,” occupies the back room of the Orange Dragon, located at 122 Orange St.
When he lived in Chicago, Hastings artist David Cook created sculptures that fit the city’s industrial nature. It was moody, haunting and even a little scary, he said.
About four months ago, he started a new project that is vastly different. He made a collection of large, brightly colored flowers and temporarily installs them in various spots around the Twin Cities area.
“I’ve been getting nothing but smiles,” he said.
Hastings has a new source for art and art education downtown.
Great Rivers Art Gallery opened recently at 301 E. Second St., across from the post office downtown. Owners Al and Dorothy Most opened Great Rivers with the goal of it becoming much more than just a place where people come to view and purchase art.
