The Hastings Area Swim Team sent 49 swimmers to the state meet. Swimmers ages 12 and younger competed March 11-13. The senior group, ages 13 and older, competed March 17-20. Both meets were held at the Olsted Recreation Center in Rochester.

So, judging from just those two statements, it would probably be pretty easy to predict who came out on top of last week’s meet between the two schools. If you predicted Mounds View to win, you’d be right.
For those who follow high school swimming closely, there are relatively few surprises each season. It seems like certain teams are always good. The results for most meets are rather predictable, given the times that each team turns in.
The biggest meet of the season for the Hastings girls swimming team is under way. The section meet began Wednesday for the Raiders, who are hoping to qualify as many swimmers as possible for the upcoming state meet.
