Benning places 13th at state cross country meet Hastings High School junior Zack Benning is an all-state runner. Benning placed 13th at the state cross country meet on Saturday, finishing the 5K race in 15 minutes, 51.2 seconds.

Raider boys place 7th at cross country sections A very young Hastings boys cross country team made quite an impression at the section meet Thursday in Owatonna. The Raiders placed seventh out of 14 teams. The team didn’t have a senior competing on varsity, and the team’s top two runners are freshmen.

Meets for the Hastings cross country teams are getting more and more important as the fall season wears on. One big meet is planned for today (Thursday) in Owatonna, the site of the upcoming section meet. The meet gives the Raiders a chance to see the course and to run against some strong section competition.

The Hastings boys cross country team had a strong finish at the annual Hudson Raider Invitational on Sept. 21, placing fourth out of nine teams. Making head coach John Dewall even more excited about the finish was the fact that only one senior was in the top seven for Hastings. Plus, the top two Hastings runners were freshmen.
