Wrestling: Hastings to send eight to state meet
The Hastings Raiders wrestling team had a solid performance at the Section 3AAA tournament in Rosemount this past weekend. The Raiders will be sending eight to the Xcel to compete in the 2010 Minnesota State Wrestling Tournament that starts Wednesday. All eight should have good opportunities for success at the Xcel this week. Hastings had six wrestlers reach the finals, with two others coming through the wrestlebacks to qualify for state. It was an impressive performance by the young men in a very good section.

Wrestlers takes second at section meet
For the third consecutive year the No. 4-ranked Hastings Raiders section team title hopes came to an end at the hands of the Apple Valley Eagles.
The Raiders were facing the Eagles for the first time this year and Apple Valley proved why they are considered the mythical No. 1-team in the county. With Apple Valley reloaded this year, they were able to beat Hastings, 52-12.

Wrestlers win another conference title
The Hastings Raiders wrestling team celebrated senior night with another powerful performance in their 43-27 win over the Forest Lake Rangers.
The Raiders won nine of the 14 weights, amassing three pins, two technical falls, three decisions and one forfeit. The win was a great way for the seniors to go out on top in their last home appearance.

Retirement party for former HHS wrestling coach, Paul Vaith, is March 27
A retirement party for Hastings wrestling coach Paul Vaith has been planned for Saturday, March 27, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton’s Mother Seton Hall in Hastings. The event begins at 5 p.m. with a social. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and the program begins at 8 p.m.

Wrestling: Raiders win Anoka duals
The Hastings Raiders wrestling team kept things rolling in Anoka over the weekend by taking home the top prize once again. This was the Raiders’ third dual title of the year and it came against some very good teams in St Francis, New London Spicer and Cambridge-Isanti.

Wrestling: Hastings has little trouble winning Dave Arens Classic
In another strong performance by the Hastings wrestling team, they showed why they are one of the best teams in the state. Showing sustained consistency in the lineup, the Raiders trounced their competition on their way to winning the Dave Arens Classic. Hastings won 35 of 42 matches in the tournament, with 17 wrestlers scoring points for the team. As a whole, the team amassed 21 pins, three technical falls, two major decisions, four decisions, and were awarded five forfeits.

Wrestling: Hastings cruises at quadrangular
Hastings wrestlers won 34 of 42 matches during a quadrangular last week.
Hastings beat Cretin-Derham Hall, Roseville and Harding in the process.
The meet opened with a 51-19 win over Roseville.

Wrestling: Raiders take 16th at Clash
The Clash was everything it was cracked up to be.
As advertised, the best teams in the nation were in Rochester last weekend for the nation’s premier high school wrestling tournament. Among those teams was the Hastings Raiders, who ended up placing 16th out of 32 teams.

At 7-0, Hastings wrestlers ready for The Clash
So far, so good.
The Hastings wrestling team is off to a perfect 7-0 start on the season, and first-year coach Justin Hahn couldn’t be much happier than he is.
That said, it would take a monumental effort for the Raiders to emerge from The Clash tournament in Rochester with that perfect mark still intact.
