Boys hockey team plays against Apple Valley Thursday in section tourney 
The Hastings boys hockey team earned the No. 5 seed in the Section 3AA tournament. That means the Raiders will play at Apple Valley, the No. 4 seed. The game is at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 25, at the Apple Valley Sports Arena.

Boys hockey: Hastings beats Park, 4-2 
Hastings jumped out to a 3-0 lead, watched as Park cut the lead to a goal at 3-2, and then pulled away down the stretch for a 5-2 win over the Wolfpack Thursday.

This year’s team just concluded its season with a 16-8-3 record, a significant improvement from the 2008-09 season.

Girls hockey: Raiders rebound with big win over Blaze 
Apparently that tough stretch is over for the Hastings girls hockey team.
After starting goalie Stefanie Wical got hurt during the Mounds View game, Hastings struggled through a tough stretch of games against very good teams and went 0-4-1 during five games.
Wical is back.
And so are the Raiders.

Last week, Hastings coach Russ Welch and members of the Raiders boys hockey team gathered to talk about a couple letdowns they had the previous week. It seemed to Welch that when the Raiders got down, they threw in the towel.

After starting the season off with an impressive 12-2-2 record, the Hastings girls hockey team has hit a bit of a rough patch lately.
Hastings is 0-3-1 in its last four games.

Hastings boys hockey coach Russ Welch knew two games last week were important ones for the Hastings Raiders. Hastings had a 6-7 record heading into the week, and could have secured a spot in the top half of the Suburban East Conference with wins over Forest Lake and Stillwater.

Girls hockey: Raiders break into rankings 
A 3-1 win over Park on Tuesday night helped the Hastings girls hockey team earn a statewide ranking this week. The Raiders picked up the state’s No. 11 ranking in Class 2A after the win over the Wolfpack. At the time, Hastings had a 12-2-2 record.

Girls hockey: Raiders win tournament title 
Good news keeps pouring in for the Hastings girls hockey team. Between Christmas and the New Year’s holidays, the Raiders won an eight-team tournament in Farmington to improve to 11-2-2 on the season.
