Heading into a very challenging three-game stretch on the schedule, Hastings boys basketball coach Chad Feikema was optimistic. He wasn’t necessarily thinking Hastings would beat Forest Lake, Stillwater or Cretin-Derham Hall, but he knew his team had a great chance to learn a lot against three very good teams.

After beating Park on Tuesday of last week, the Hastings Raiders boys basketball team got above .500 for the first time all season.
Hastings was 7-6 following the big win.
Two games later, Hastings is back under .500.

For the first 14 minutes of Friday’s girls basketball game against Roseville, it was an even matchup.
Hastings was in it.

A new boys basketball rivalry was born last Tuesday night. Hastings ended up winning the first round, beating East Ridge 79-63 in a physical, hard-fought and technical-foul filled game.

Patriot tournament celebration is Jan. 30
The 50th annual Patriot tournament celebration has been moved back one day to Saturday, Jan. 30 at Seton Hall at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish. It will be from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and there will be a program with Dick Jonckowski as the MC. Green Mill will cater the food.
