Braveheart Rescue forced to close by township board
By July 17, Braveheart Rescue Inc. will have to shut its doors as a dog rescue. The rescue, which opened about three years ago just a few miles south of Hastings in Marshan Township, was ordered to close by the Marshan Town Board at its April 17 meeting because owner Brandi Tracy did not have a valid permit.

Heading into Tuesday night’s section softball games in Austin, the Hastings Raiders had an 18-game winning streak going in the tournament. The streak stretches back for years, and this year’s team had added two wins to the total.

Third person arrested and charged related to teen's death in March
The police probe into the death of a Hastings teen in March continues. The teen died after an overdose of heroin and alcohol, and in April two people were arrested for the possession of a controlled substance. They accompanied the teen to St. Paul to purchase the heroin. Recently, a third person was arrested and later charged for supplying the alcohol.
