The freshly painted band stands in the senior high school’s auto mechanic room looked brand new. More were in the process of being painted, and another 60 from the nearby band room were about to be rolled into the room last Thursday afternoon.

All throughout New Year’s Eve, a band of nomadic improv comedians strode through Hastings. For 13 hours straight, the group went from location to location, all in the name of fun.

When Hudson Zieske and his family went to see the Holiday Train stop at the depot in Hastings two weeks ago, he forgot to bring his coloring contest entry. A quick return trip home brought the entry back to the depot for judging.

Hastings swimming coach Gerry Rupp had a lot to be excited about coming into this season. For one thing, his team, thanks to a new pool at the Hastings Middle School, was able to add a diving program again. They are just barely in a new school setting, learning how to adjust to hundreds of other students and a very large school building. Fitting right into this structure of learning what is outside the four walls for sixth- grade students at Hastings Middle School is the Junior Achievement’s Economics for Success program.

Concert is a ‘tapping and singing trip’ down memory lane
When Two on Tap performs, images of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers come to mind. There is singing and toe tapping throughout the concert. The performing duo of Two on Tap, Melissa Giattino and Ron DeStefano, will perform in concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 25, at the Hastings Middle School.
