Third annual police survey conducted; drugs are top concern
Hastings residents have spoken, and the Hastings Police Department is listening. The 2012 HPD community input survey was conducted recently, and now the department is going over the responses to determine how it can address the issues brought up in the survey. Approximately 120 people took the survey.

Hastings police have charged Henry Steven Pope, 42, Hastings, with one count of felony domestic assault by strangulation and two felony counts of domestic assault following an incident reported Nov. 1 at a Hastings residence.

A treasurer of a homeowners’ association in Hastings, Karen Esther Sutton, 64, has been charged with three counts of theft – aggregating ($1,000 to $5,000) after she deposited homeowners dues into the association account, but then withdrew some of the cash — totaling more than $10,000.

A Hastings couple has been charged with multiple crimes associated with the abuse, endangerment and neglect of a 4-year-old female child. The charges were filed last week after the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) contacted Hastings police about an ongoing Internet investigation involving suspected production of pornographic works involving minor children.
