Pre-Veterans’ Day concert will help a veteran
The public is invited to a free pre-Veterans’ Day event filled with music, inspiration, refreshments, and the opportunity to help a veteran. The concert will be held at 4 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4, at Woodbury Lutheran Church, 7380 Afton Road, Woodbury. In concert will be Chris Falteisek, Maureen McNeary Sieben and Sarah Sprinthall.

Projections show budget shortfall for school district in Farmington

Vietnam veterans: Hastings men’s story featured in Lawshe museum
Hastings resident Wayne Bauer never really talked about his experience in the Vietnam War until he got involved with veterans’ groups like the VFW, American Legion and Metro Marines. But since the beginning of January, 2011, Bauer’s experience in the war has been part of a public museum exhibit at the Lawshe Memorial Museum in South St. Paul.

Keeping up the fight: Marty Caneff is 30 months into his fight with brain cancer
One morning in April 2010, Marty Caneff of Hastings had a bad headache. He couldn’t shake it, and he told his wife Margie he just didn’t feel right. Within hours, the Hastings father of three was in an ambulance on his way to United Hospital. A CAT scan had revealed a tumor on his brain. “It was horrible — It was totally horrible,” Margie Caneff said. “We didn’t know what was going to happen. That’s the day that our world changed. It was devastating, to say the least.”
