Two Hastings women, experiencing same tragedy, reach out to other parents
Deb Hines and Janet Stein had never met before this spring. A magazine article written by Stein drew the two together and led them to begin a new weekly grief support group for parents who have experienced the loss of a child – “A Support Group for A Dad, A Mom, Remember You Are Not Alone.” The name of the group draws attention to Adam Stein and Ryan Lorentz, the women’s sons who died in accidents in the past year and a half.

Raiders start SEC season with win over Stillwater
The Suburban East Conference season got off to a great start this week for the Hastings boys hockey team. The Raiders earned a big 2-1 win over Stillwater in the SEC opener for both teams and then, on Tuesday, Hastings scored a huge 7-3 win over White Bear Lake.

Hastings man charged with sexual assault on college student in Minneapolis
A Hastings man, 45-year-old Louis R. Oliver, faces a felony charge of criminal sexual conduct in the first degree after he allegedly sexually assaulted a college student near Riverside Park in Minneapolis on Nov. 19.
