Fair's 5K run is set for Aug. 12
While it’s not meant to be a mud run, the Dakota County Fair 5K has gotten a reputation for ending up that way. The run, which has been held the last three fairs, takes athletes through the varied terrain of the fairgrounds.

Letter: While musicals are an ‘abomination,’ this one is worth seeing
Let me be very clear: I hate musicals. Hate. I think they are an abomination of human intellect and society. If aliens wishing to make contact with us, or future generations uncovering our media post-apocalypse, viewed a musical first, they’d write us off as irrational melodramatic fools and cease all further attempts of discovery.

Rivertown Eye Care to offer free exams for children entering kindergarten

Schaffhausen appears in young girls' murder case
A man accused in the deaths of his three young daughters in a gruesome incident at a River Falls residence last Tuesday made his initial appearance in St. Croix County Circuit Court Thursday afternoon. District Attorney Eric Johnson said the throats were slit on all three girls.
