Remembering Maddy Sake: Her family says she loved, among other things, soccer and loud trucks
Maddy Sake’s dreams for the future included, among other things, being a pediatrician or neonatal nurse. Those dreams met a tragic end last week when Sake, a 16-year-old Hastings High School student, died in a car crash. Her family is busy trying to figure out how to go on without her. They’re certain she would want them to meet life with smiles, and that’s something they’re working on.

Rosemount and Hastings share a beautiful piece of geography, the Spring Lake Park Preserve. The two communities both also have newly formed community bands. So to John Loch and Dick Graham it seemed natural that the two communities could partner to offer a music festival.

During her 16 years on earth, Kate Curtis hasn’t caught a lot of fish. The ones she has caught, though, have certainly been memorable. In August, while in Alaska on a family vacation, Curtis caught what may be her last fish – an 88-inch, 375-pound halibut.
