Dakota County farm family of the year
Roy and Karen Bremer, John and Janet Bremer are honored in 2012.eventy-six families from around the state, one from each participating county, have been named a “2012 Farm Family of the Year” by the University of Minnesota. In Dakota County, the Bremer Farm — including Roy and Karen, John and Janet and their children Sara and Michael — is being honored this year. Their farm is located just west of Hastings.

The Dakota County Master Gardeners are sponsoring Super Tuesday July 31
The University of Minnesota Extension Volunteer Master Gardeners of Dakota County (in cooperation with the Rosemount Research and Outreach Center are pleased to provide an evening of garden-centered presentations on projects currently underway at the RROC along with tent talks on special topics of gardening interest. Garden talks are organized around six themes: Growing Healthy Foods, Sustainable Landscape, Minnesota Introductions & Bird Gardening, Preservation of Pollinators, Minnesota Research, and Gardening for Kids. There will be four special tent presentations on Weeds, The Well-Tended Garden, Plant Photography, and Honey Bees.

Individual properties will continue to strengthen their hometown identities while the group’s new name emphasizes that together they are much more than simply 10 newspapers operating under the former RiverTown Newspaper Group identity.
