The wedding is planned for June 16, 2012. The ceremony will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison, with a reception to follow at Shooters in Appleton, Wis. Amanda graduated from Hastings High School and is a 2009 graduate of Minnesota State University-Moorhead with a teaching and coaching degree. She is currently working for Lac qui Parle Valley School District as an EBD Technician and a coach for softball and volleyball.

Connor Loch helps restore cemetery fence
Much of the fence at Soldiers and Sailors Cemetery has a fresh look to it, thanks to Hastings High School student and Boy Scout Troop 23 member Connor Loch. The Scoutmaster is Steve Forrey. During the weekend of June 2-3, Loch, several family members and friends restored the outside of the fence along First Street. The restoration was Loch’s Eagle Scout project, a project he first began thinking about last spring.

The Hastings School District Special Education staff and several parents invited Lawrence Belk over to McAuliffe Elementary School last Wednesday. He did not know what was happening, but figured it was connected to the many children with special needs he has helped in the past several years through his gymnastics program in Hastings. He was right.

Popular Hastings High School French teachers retiring after more than 30 years here

They are the wonderful reminders of Brian and Sue Drummond’s more than 30 years of teaching in the Hastings School District 200. This week, the Drummonds retire from their positions, but not from the community, they stress.

A new opportunity for this year's eighth graders at HMS is to join the Presidential Inauguration trip scheduled for Jan. 20 to Jan. 25, 2013. The trip was previously open only to all ninth through 11th grade Hastings area students.
