Letter: Same-sex marriage attempts to ‘redefine what constitutes acceptable behavior’
Same-sex marriage is another step in the deconstruction of the traditional Judeo-Christian definition of family, which has made America the greatest nation on earth. However: all cultures, not only Judeo-Christian cultures, have defined marriage as between a man and woman.

Letter: Baseball fields in Hastings need work
I think baseball is a great sport for all folks. Young and old, fans or players all enjoy the sport if the games are played on halfway decent fields. Three years ago a group of parents and coaches got together and started Raider Nation and had 75 young ball players.

Letter: ‘Our resources are being stretched by our numbers’
Does it seem to anyone else that we are on an out of control trajectory towards the future? I meet a lot of people that have misgivings about what we see going on in the world, but no one has any answers on how to change its progress.

Letter: God took care of defining marriage
Tonight we read through the Hastings Star Gazette and for the first time ever we telephoned the people who wrote about the marriage amendment. These people took time to think through the age-old understanding of marriage, and then they actually saw this as important enough to sit down and write a letter for the Opinion page.

Letter: God has already clarified what marriage is, and what it isn’t
Our Heavenly Father has defined marriage this way: "Have you not read that He who created them from the beginning made them male and female, and said, for this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate."

Letter: Thanks, Hastings, for making it possible for everyone to simply live their lives
A while back our home was featured in a Hastings Star Gazette article called "Who Lives There?" After telling a friend about it, he expressed concern for a possible backlash due to our status as a same-sex couple. I assured him that Hastings is not like that, and we felt that we had nothing to be concerned about. We were not disappointed in our town.

I would like to offer a perspective regarding the marriage amendment that will be on the November ballot. I will not give my opinion; rather I will save that for the day I vote.
