Letter: Thanks to everyone who helped find missing boy
We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who helped find our son, Scott. Words cannot describe the appreciation we have for all of the law enforcement, EMS, fire and rescue, and all of the individuals who searched, donated items, and offered support. We were overwhelmed by the number of people that stopped what they were doing and rushed to our home to help search for our son.

Letter: Bible’s interpretation of marriage should be left out of state law
My partner, of 14 years, and I moved to Hastings earlier this year from Minneapolis. Having both grown up in River Falls, Wis., we were looking for a smaller, tight-knit community similar to our hometown. So far, we are very pleased with the move.

Letter: Braveheart should be allowed to continue its good work
I am a volunteer for Braveheart Rescue, and have been since January of this year. I clean kennels, help with adoptions and help socialize the dogs. It saddens me to think of Braveheart closing.

Letter: Residents: It is time to get off the sidelines
If I hear one more person say, “I don’t know, I don’t really follow politics,” I’m going to scream. It just isn’t OK anymore.

As a current federal worker with 36 years of service at the Department of Veterans Affairs Minneapolis VA Medical Center, the Fourth of July is an important day for me. Since the dawn of our nation, federal workers have played a significant role in America's achievements.

Letter: Plan should be put in place to save dogs
I am writing regarding the process for closing Braveheart Rescue, Inc. (“Braveheart”). Thomas Cole proposed a reasonable plan to Marshan Township regarding closing Braveheart and saving the lives of all the dogs currently residing there.

Letter: Dogs at Braveheart need to be saved
More than six months ago I went before the Marshan Township board and quietly asked them to bring some accountability to the out-of-control shelter known as Braveheart Rescue, Inc. My intent was to avoid the very situation that now looms over that shelter.

I was at our local Walmart store tonight and after hearing some disturbing news, I felt that I had to write one more letter to the editor. I am still so very disturbed about the news of Braveheart Rescue being forced to close.

Letter: Town board should reconsider decision
I recently adopted a dog from Braveheart Rescue in Hastings, so I was saddened to see news of its upcoming closure. People may not realize it, but the old standby for adopting unwanted animals — the local humane societies — have run into really hard times and no longer have the ability to offer many pets for adoption.

Letter: Braveheart Rescue needs to be saved
After reading the article about the closing of Bravehart Rescue by Marshan township, I felt that I had to write the paper about my feelings on this matter. I am hoping that many other people step up and make the people who made this decision take another look at what this means not only to the people involved, but to the innocent animals they are condemning. The truth is that some, if not many of these animals, could be put to death because of their selfish and heartless decisions.

Letter: Teacher’s dedication is ‘greatly appreciated’
My daughter graduated from kindergarten today. Last September, my little girl left for her first day of kindergarten. She was scared and nervous, but very excited. It would be a school year of many firsts, starting with her anxiously awaiting for the arrival of the new bus ride. Many of the year’s firsts will hopefully last a lifetime, like some of the friends, and many of the memories.

Letter: It’s time for the city to relax a little bit
I spend time watching the City Council meetings and get so frustrated doing so. So many times when a citizen comes before the planning commission and then the city council for approval on site plans, a variance or any other item that needs approval they refer to Burnsville does it this way or Apple Valley does it this way or Woodbury does it this way.
