Remembering Maddy Sake: Her family says she loved, among other things, soccer and loud trucks
Maddy Sake’s dreams for the future included, among other things, being a pediatrician or neonatal nurse. Those dreams met a tragic end last week when Sake, a 16-year-old Hastings High School student, died in a car crash. Her family is busy trying to figure out how to go on without her. They’re certain she would want them to meet life with smiles, and that’s something they’re working on.

Hastings High student killed in crash Thursday evening, Sept. 6
A 16-year-old Hastings High School student, Madeline Rose Sake, was killed Thursday evening in a two-vehicle crash just south of Hastings. The three people in the second vehicle were transported to Regions Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

There will be a benefit for Mark Heesch a 1979 graduate of Hastings High School on Saturday, Aug. 18 at the Eagles Club in Hasitngs from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. There will be sloppy joes, chips, coleslaw and dessert, $7 a plate. There will also be a silent auction and drawing.
