Fifty residents of Hastings area rally against marriage amendment
On Sunday, approximately 50 people from Hastings, Rosemount and other area communities marched from Levee Park to Hastings City Hall. Their objective was simple—to encourage residents to vote “No” on a Minnesota amendment defining marriage as a union exclusively between a man and woman.

PUBLIC NOTICE ABSENTEE VOTING
Voters may begin to vote by Absentee Ballot on Friday, June 29, 2012. Absentee voting will be available at Hastings City Hall, 101 Fourth Street East between 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday through Friday August 10. Absentee voting will also be open from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11 and until 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 13, 2012. The Primary Election will be Tuesday, August 14, 2012.

Four Hastings City Council members file again
All four Hastings incumbent Hastings City Council members have filed for re-election. Braveheart Rescue forced to close by township board
By July 17, Braveheart Rescue Inc. will have to shut its doors as a dog rescue. The rescue, which opened about three years ago just a few miles south of Hastings in Marshan Township, was ordered to close by the Marshan Town Board at its April 17 meeting because owner Brandi Tracy did not have a valid permit.
