Osberg's final day as city administrator is Friday
In March of 1989, Dave Osberg took a new job. He had been working in St. James when the city administrator position in Hastings opened up. City Hall had a much different dynamic back then. There was significant unrest in the council prior to Osberg’s hiring, and it continued in some measure into the first part of his career here. Anyone who came into his position would have had a tough time, Osberg said.

Bennett and Julia join Schultz family
Bennett Bryan Schultz and Julia Jill Schultz were born Jan. 16, 2013, at Woodwinds Hospital in Woodbury to Bryan and Kristina Schultz of Hastings. At birth Bennett weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Julia weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19 inches long. Bennett and Julia have two siblings, Olivia and Carter.

Focus group seeks input
A metro-wide focus group is looking for caregiver input. The Metropolitan Area Agency on Aging is teaming up with Wilder Research to host a series of focus groups across the metro area over the next six weeks. If you are an adult who provides care to a family member or friend over age 60, or an individual (of any age) with Alzheimer’s Disease, you may be eligible to participate. Each focus group will last about 90 minutes and a meal will be served. All participants will receive a $20 gift card for their time.

This fall I emailed both Christy Jo Fogarty and her opponent, Mike Slavik, expressing my concerns about unelected bodies like the Met Council and their ability to levy taxes and the Lessard-Sams Outdoor Heritage Council, which appropriates tax money to various interests, instead of having those appropriations go through the legislative process to be decided by your elected representatives.
