Hastings softball team stopped at section tournament
Heading into Tuesday night’s section softball games in Austin, the Hastings Raiders had an 18-game winning streak going in the tournament. The streak stretches back for years, and this year’s team had added two wins to the total.

That record could be much better if the team wasn’t hit hard by giving up some big innings here and there. That record could be much worse if that team hadn’t eked out a number of close one-run wins.

Engagement Avan Kells and Amanda Lyon
Avan Kells and Amanda Lyon are proud to announce their engagement. Avan Kells is the son of David and Nancy Kells of Madison, Wis. Amanda Lyon is the daughter of Steve and Cindy Lyon of Hastings. The wedding is planned for June 16, 2012. The ceremony will be held at Faith Lutheran Church in Madison, with a reception to follow at Shooters in Appleton, Wis. Amanda graduated from Hastings High School and is a 2009 graduate of Minnesota State University-Moorhead with a teaching and coaching degree. She is currently working for Lac qui Parle Valley School District as an EBD Technician and a coach for softball and volleyball.
