Alpha Ten-week course offers introduction to Christian faith
Alpha returns to The Harbor Church next Tuesday, Jan. 22. Interested people can learn about the Christian faith, “Is There More to Life,” in a safe environment when Alpha is offered at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays, for 10 weeks at The Harbor Church, about four miles north of Hastings on Highway 61.

Deanery meeting reset
The Southeast Deanery Council of Catholic Women had to reschedule its spring meeting to Thursday, April 25, at the St. Paul Church of Zumbrota. The day will start with Mass at 8:30 a.m., followed by the Rosary. Registration is in the lower level. Coffee will be served. The business meeting will start at 9:45 a.m. At 11a.m. the special speaker for the day will be Heather Sharp, who has survived two serious accidents.  Her topic is “Faith and Attitude.”

Brynn Harms joins Rivertown church
The Rev. Brynn Harms’ father is an Assembly of God minister, but growing up he never felt he was pushed toward that career. An interest in the ministry career came much later. Harms is the new pastor at the Rivertown Assembly of God Church, located about five miles south Hastings on Highway 316. He has been a practicing minister since 2000. Before that time, he had tried the military as a career and was furniture salesman.

Hope Christian Preschool will add kindergarten to its offerings
Its preschool program has been offering Christian-based education for years to 3- and 4-year olds. Now, with the 2013-14 school year, Hope Lutheran Church’s Christian preschool will enhance and expand its program to include one-half day and full-day kindergarten at its location, 16898 Michael Ave. (at the city’s southern limits, off of Highway 316). For 43 years, the Rev. Percy Damrow has been serving God and his church community. On Sunday, July 8, Damrow preached his last sermon at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. He has been the church’s pastor for 31 years. He has had great joy in being part of this church and its family.
