Rivertown Days tennis tournament results posted
This year’s Rivertown Days Tennis Tournament featured 173 entrants in 16 divisions. Funds raised by the tournament are used to give a scholarship to a senior girl who has played tennis at the varsity level as well as to fund equipment and program needs for the Hastings High School girls and boys tennis teams.

Rivertown Days parade is at noon on Sunday, July 22
The big Rivertown Days parade is set to go at noon Sunday, July 22. This year’s event, sponsored by Regina Medical Center, has the same route, a lot of musical entertainment, colorful floats and marching units. There are 100 units in the parade which begins at 10th and Ramsey streets, then proceeds north on Ramsey Street (the wrong way) to Second Street. At Second Street, the units will go west under the bridge to Eddy Street. At Wilson Park, the parade will disband.

Sawtooth Bluegrass Band will lead two OSEL’s worship services during Rivertown Days
The sounds of bluegrass music will be heard throughout Our Saviour’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 400 W. Ninth St., during Rivertown Days. The Sawtooth Bluegrass Band will lead the worship services at 9:15 a.m. and 10:35 a.m. Sunday, July 22. The bluegrass band’s appearance is a Rivertown Days event.

There’s a medallion hunt, a big parade with bands and floats, arts and crafts, a carnival along the river, lots of musical entertainment, tournaments, children’s games and activities, contests to enter, food booths and a fireworks display.

Dickey's in Hastings is under new management
Dickey’s Barbecue Pit has a new owner. Cory Sessions bought the business Oct. 2. Sessions owns another Dickey’s in Woodbury, which will celebrate its first anniversary in mid-December. Opening a location in Hastings was one of his original goals, he said, but it didn’t work out right away. When the previous owners of the Hastings store decided to sell, Sessions stepped in.

Veterans Day events listed
For many years, the Hastings American Legion Post 47 and the VFW Lyle Russell Post 1210 have hosted a celebratory dinner every year on Veterans Day. The dinner will be held again this year at the National Guard Armory, but it will look a little different.
