PHOTO GALLERY: Healing Arts at Hudson Hospital

  • Stained-glass pieces by Josie Geiger hang in windows of the main corridor of Hudson Hospital & Clinics.   • Paintings of daffodils by Edie Abnet, and photographs of the flowers by her daughter-in-law, Julie Abnet, bring color to a hospital waiting area.
  • A painting by Carol Nelson Pruchnofski titled “Place of Honor” is part of an exhibit by the Lake Country Pastel Society in an interior hallway of the hospital.
  • Metalwork by Frederic artist Jon Michael Route decorated the hospital conference room until recently. It was replaced by a new exhibit last week.
  • The second-floor Specialty Clinic contains an exhibit by sculptor Sara Balbin of Drummond and painter Deanna Persson of Hayward.
  • Architectural paintings by Michael Welton are combined with faerie houses made by Frank and Bell Barr in one of the featured exhibits at Hudson Hospital & Clinics.
  • Hospital staff members are also given opportunities to display their art. Helen Lanis, Betty Rudesill and Kathy Smith made this pieced quilt titled “Third Week of October.”
  • The hospital’s administration office is decorated with ink portraits by Walter Van Blaircom.
  • Hospital volunteers Lauren Potter and Richard Knutson hang a fabric piece that is part of a new exhibit by artists Vicki Kessler and Donna Kjonaas.
  • Margaret Welshons is the coordinator of the Healing Arts program, which is a collaboration between Hudson Hospital & Clinics and The Phipps Center for the Arts. Welshons says it is her dream job.
  • Hudson Hospital President & CEO Marian Furlong believes art can create an environment that helps speed healing. She is credited with initiating the Healing Arts program.
