Edward P. "Mike" Schommer, age 81, of Hastings, died Friday, March 15, at his home.
A visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Monday, March 18, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 15th St. W., Hastings, and 1 hour prior to the funeral on Tuesday. The Funeral Mass will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 19, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery with military honors provided by the Hastings VFW Lyle Russell Post #1210. Memorials are preferred to St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish or Hastings Family Service.

Dear Shirley and Schommer family, There is little one can say at a time like this, we want you know we are thinking of you and you have our heartfelt sympathy. Mike was more than my life long friend; he was my hero and inspiration. He served his family, his country, his community and his church with honor. It was once said that a man will live as long as he is remembered; Mike will live a long, long, long, long, time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
