Cassie, the toy store dog, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct. 19.
Cassie began her career as the Second Childhood toy store dog in the summer of 2000. She loved to be with people and quickly became a wonderful ambassador for the City of Hastings and downtown. She loved the Cruise-Ins and would wander up and down Second Street cruising for food from spectators.
She was the beloved friend and companion of Bob and Barb Hollenbeck. Cassie gave great comfort to Barb when Bob was diagnosed with terminal cancer. When Bob died in 2011, she remained Barb's closest friend.
She was a patient at Town and Country Veterinary Clinic and always received excellent care from her doctors Jon Woodman, Coral Riggs, and their wonderful staff.
In recent years, Cassie struggled with arthritis and kidney disease but remained in good spirits and on the job.

So sorry to hear of Cassie's passing. She was truly an awesome dog! My granddaughter and I used to walk down there just to give her some pets and every member of my family knows her!Hastings, MN 10/23/2012 3:08 PM
