Timothy T. Straub, age 71, of Black Hawk, S.D., died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Navarre Province, Spain, while on an archaeological dig.
Timothy T. Straub, age 71, of Black Hawk, S.D., died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 12, in Navarre Province, Spain, while on an archaeological dig.
Tim was born Nov. 16, 1940, in St. Peter, Minn., to Harold and Catherine-Lynch Straub. He graduated from Le Sueur High School in 1958.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (Horsch) Straub, formerly of Hastings; mother of his children, Loretta Lehnert Straub; children, Michelle Burns (Timothy), Steven Straub (Cherie), Renee Tousley (Bob), Tony Straub (Tennille), Mara Rayner (Brian) and stepson, Rob Hermann; 14 grandchildren; siblings Art (Barb) Straub, Don (Mary Jane) Straub, Pete (Sylvia) Straub, Sam (LuAnn) Straub, Lyle (Connie) Straub, Louisa (Gregg) Voss, and Susie (Rick) Edberg; sister-in-law Janet Straub; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Kenneth Straub.
His 38-year career began with Green Giant Company in Le Sueur, Minn., as a mushroom grower. As he grew and evolved, his career flourished, taking him to new destinations across the globe as an international quality assurance manager.
Tim loved to learn, to be physically active, on the go, to mentor and volunteer, and to explore and discover. Tim was passionate about meeting new people, learning about new cultures, and teaching and sharing his experiences with others. He loved being in nature - hiking, playing, exploring, and hanging out with his beloved wife, Mary, children, grandchildren, and many friends.
Tim led by example when living life to the fullest. Tim touched the lives of many people with his smile and charisma. He maintained his trademark joy in meeting others all the way to the end.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at the Ney Nature Center east of Henderson, Minn. Visitation will be at the Kolden Funeral Home in Le Sueur from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, and 1 hour prior to the services at the Ney Nature Center.
Memorials will be donated for causes and projects that were very dear to Tim.
