Milo "Mike" Simacek, age 82, of Hastings, died Friday, June 29, at Regions Hospital in St. Paul.
The funeral Mass will be held July 3 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Hastings. Interment will follow in Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred.

I am a Class of '82 graduate of Hastings Senior High. I remember that Mr. Simacek taught a wood shop class that I had for one semester. There are only a few teachers that I remember, and Mr. Simacek was definitely one of them. I remember that he had a good sense of humor. He could be intimidating at times (which was a good thing to keep some of us boys in line). Most of all, he was very patient with us. I am sure that he has had a positive impact on many lives.
