Bernice was born July 12, 1931, in Vermillion Township to Math and Rose (Beissel) Meier. She married Bernard Husting at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Hastings on Aug. 9, 1952. She was a former cook at school District 200 and former employee with Hudson Manufacturing, Smead Manufacturing, and 3M.
Bernice enjoyed spending time with family and friends, card playing, listening to country and western music, camping, and traveling. She was also a Twins fan.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Othmar, Gordon, and infant Richard; great-grandson Austin Spicer.
Bernice is survived by her husband, Bernard “Buck” Husting; children, Karen (Richard) Spicer, Diane (Jerry) Flom, Ken Husting (Jennifer Rank), Nancy (James) Schmotter, Julie (Michael) Lubich, John (Jodi) Husting; 19 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; siblings Hilde Caneff, Don Meier, Florence (Bob) Pirrung, Pete (Grace) Meier, Dorothy (Rod) Smith, Rita (LeRoy) Reinardy, Harry (Sherryl) Meier, Jeannie (Mitch) Harrington; two sisters-in-law Marlene and Leah Meier.
The Memorial Mass, officiated by Fr. James Perk, will be held 11 a.m. Monday, June 25, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings, MN 55033, with visitation 2 hours prior to Mass at church. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery. Memorials will be given to St. Paul Children’s and Gillette Children’s Hospitals.
