Lawrence J. Murtaugh, age 65, of Hastings, passed away at his home May 29.

Lawrence J. Murtaugh, age 65, of Hastings, passed away at his home May 29.

He was born in Hastings on Sept. 30, 1945, to Paul and Greta Murtaugh. He married Cheryl Huberty Aug. 19, 1967, in Hastings, at St. Boniface Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl, and son, Dennis.

Larry is survived by daughters, Sharon (Dave) Benkufsky, Jean Murtaugh (Jeff Marcolina), Jen (Steve) Hansen, and Sarah (Mark) Meyer; grandchildren, Jena and Maggie Marcolina and Elizabeth Hansen; brothers, Pat, Jim, and Dick Murtaugh; and special friend, Viv Reinardy.

Mass of Christian Burial, officiated by Fr. Cole Kracke and Fr. Bill Murtaugh, will be at 12 noon Saturday, June 2, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2035 W. 15th St., Hastings. A gathering will be held 1 hour prior to the Mass at church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Disabled Veterans of America.
