Donald J. Murtaugh, age 85, of Hastings, passed away at Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on March 21.
Donald J. Murtaugh, age 85, of Hastings, passed away at Prescott Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on March 21.
He was born in Hastings, on Feb. 8, 1927, to Joseph and Gertrude (Gergen) Murtaugh. Don was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving his country from 1944–1946. He worked as a Pile Driver and was a member of the Carpenters Union.
He was preceded in death by his parents; nephews, John and Dan; and niece, Kristina.
Don is survived by his son, Donald Murtaugh Jr.; his 6 brothers and many other loving relatives and friends.
A memorial service, officiated by his brother, Fr. Bill Murtaugh, was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, at Wise Family Funeral Home, 400 Spring St., Hastings. A Visitation was held ½ hour prior to the service. Interment was at Fort Snelling National Cemetery. Memorials preferred in lieu of flowers to Hastings Family Service.
