Ellen E. Bollenbeck (nee Murphy), age 87, of Hastings, formerly of Bloomington, Minn., died Feb. 14 in Woodbury, Minn.
Ellen E. Bollenbeck (nee Murphy), age 87, of Hastings, formerly of Bloomington, Minn., died Feb. 14 in Woodbury, Minn.
Ellen was born Dec. 24, 1924, in Fond du Lac, Wis., to Robert Emmitt and Marie (Kaiser) Murphy. She attended Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, Wis. She married Carl Bollenbeck in 1947 and had five children. Ellen was a homemaker until the children were out of the home and then worked as a volunteer coordinator with the March of Dimes. She enjoyed baking, especially Christmas cookies, and was an avid reader.
Preceded in death by her husband, Carl, and her parents, Ellen is survived by her children, Bill (JoAnn) Bollenbeck of Hastings, Leona "Sis" Bollenbeck of Milwaukee, Bob (Michelle) Bollenbeck of Mora, Minn., Mark (Patty) Bollenbeck of Edmonds, Wash., and David Bollenbeck of Red Wing; also six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her brother, Bob (Karen) Murphy of Hot Springs Village, Ariz.
The Christian funeral service, officiated by Robert Murphy, was held Feb. 17 at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, Hastings. Interment followed in Dawn Valley Memorial Park, Bloomington. The pallbearers were her grandchildren, Eric, Katie, Bob, Ellen, Jeff, and Brian Bollenbeck.
