Kathryn Kay Peterson, age 45, of Hastings, passed away Nov. 27 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, after being diagnosed with cancer 10 months ago.
Kathryn Kay Peterson, age 45, of Hastings, passed away Nov. 27 at Methodist Hospital, Rochester, after being diagnosed with cancer 10 months ago.
She was born April 3, 1966, in Rochester, Minn. She is lovingly remembered by family and friends for her giving spirit, positive attitude, and laughter. Someone wrote on Kathryn's CaringBridge site that she obviously was one of those special people that didn't only see with her eyes but indeed with her heart.
Kathryn graduated from Hastings High School in 1984 and attended Winona State and Inver Hills Jr. College, where she received a paralegal degree. For the past 16 years, she was employed at Interstate Companies, Bloomington, Minn.
She was preceded in death by grandparents: Herman and Daisy Petersen, Virgil (Joyce) Peterson, Delores (Leo) Priebe; James Peterson and David Cooper.
Kathryn is survived by her mother and step-dad, Diane and Leigh Nelson of Welch; brother, Steve Peterson and nephews Jacob and Zachary of St. Paul; uncle, John (Marianne) Petersen of Truman, Minn.; cousins, Jody (PJ) Kocer-Flynn and Holly (Jeff) Hill; also step-siblings, Paula Zotalis, Jonathan Nelson, Elizabeth Pasch, Martha Loomis, and their families.
The funeral service, officiated by Rev. Lloyd Menke, will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, at Our Saviour's Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 Ninth St. W., Hastings. Interment will follow in Lakeside Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Caturia-Smidt Funeral Home, 201 E. Seventh St., Hastings, from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, and 1 hour prior to the service at church.
Memorials are preferred to the MN Epilepsy Fnd., Our Saviour's Ev. Lutheran Church, or your personal choice.
